Homemade Spring Themed Wedding Favors

Spring has sprung and wedding season is kicking into full gear. If like many brides you’ll be having a Spring or Summer wedding, what better place to incorporate a flower or beach theme in the guest favors. To save some money or show off your creativity, we’ve put together some ideas for easy and affordable do-it-yourself Spring Wedding Favors.

Personalized Seed Packets - Buy a huge bucket or bag of wildflower seeds in bulk at one of your local garden supply stores or home improvement shops like Lowe’s. Either purchase fancy envelopes or tulle at a craft store along with color coordinating ribbon. Carefully, place some of the seeds in either the envelope or in the tulle ‘bag’ that you tie off with the ribbon. The amount of see included varies on type of seed you use so ask your local garden center.  Then, add either a sticker or hang tag that says ‘– Love is Blooming’ or ‘Let Love Grow’ along with your names and the wedding date.

Miniature Terra Cotta Pots – You can purchase small terra cotta pots at a local craft store like Michael’s or somewhere like Home Depot. The idea is to fill the pots with either potpourri that is wrapped in tulle (so it doesn’t fall out through the pot hole) or with a simple votive candle. You can dress the pots up by using a hot glue gun to glue on ribbon that coordinates with your wedding color scheme.

Floating Flower Shaped Candles – Target, Wal-mart, Pier 1 and many other stores sell beautiful floating candles that come in various shapes including flowers. Buy one or two candles for each guest (depending on cost and size) and then wrap them in either cellophane or tulle that is tied off with a color coordinated ribbon. You can add a ‘Thank You’ hang tag for that extra special flower candle favor.

Golf Gift Box Favors – Spring definitely means that golf season is also in full swing so here is a cute idea to incorporate a golf-theme into your wedding favors. Buy small white glossy gift boxes that are just large enough to hold a golf ball along with 3 tees on a bed of green cross-cut crinkle shred. Then, use your computer to print out self adhesive labels (buy Avery labels at Office Max or Staples) that have the bride and groom’s names along with the wedding date plus add Together ‘Fore’-ever on the label too. Be sure that the labels you purchase will fit on the top of the glossy boxes. Add a ribbon around the boxes if you’d like.

Seashell Shaped Chocolates – You have a couple of options here. If you are good in the kitchen, you could by shell chocolate molds along with high quality melting chocolate to make your own seashell chocolate favors. Otherwise, you can buy seashell shaped chocolates in bulk at a candy supplier. In either case, we recommend wrapping the chocolates in a little cellophane bag that is tied off with a beautiful organza ribbon that matches your wedding color scheme. Add a little thank you tag and you’ll be all set.
