Bachelor Party - Golfing

A popular bachelor party idea is a round of golf. Depending on the size of the group playing, it's a good idea to call ahead and speak with the pro or starter. They'll be able to get the groups off in an organized manner without making your guests wait for separate starting times. Bonus points to the couple who manages this as a joint bachelorette and bachelor party on top of hosting a sports theme wedding.

If you want to include a greater number of the non-golfers or beginner golfers, then try a par three course or use some of the following

Scramble ("Best Ball" Play)

Each foursome acts as one team, and the goal is to have your team end up with the lowest score at the end of the round. After each person drives, the foursome chooses one drive and picks up the other three balls. Each person then hits from the spot of the best drive. The group then picks the best second shot and, again, the other balls are picked up. Each player hits from the location of the best second shot. This works the same on the green. Depending on the skill level of the players, you can play so that each group must use at least three drives from each player during a round. This adds some strategy into the game, because you never know when someone will fall apart or get their game together for a few drives.

Progressive

The foursome again acts like a team, and the team with the lowest final score wins. At the end of six holes each individual adds up his score. The lowest score of the group is placed on the score card. At the end of another six holes, each player adds up his score and the two lowest scores are entered on the score card. At the end of the last six holes, the lowest three scores are entered on the card. The total of these six individual scores is the total score for the team.

Scotch Two or Scotch Four

The teams are in groups of two or four. If you're playing Scotch Two, both teammates hit off the tee. You pick the best shot and the other person picks up their ball. The person who picked up their ball hits the ball still in play. The person who l4l: the drive then hits the next shot (in this case the third shot) until the ball is in the cup. You basically alternate shots with the same ball after you choose the best drive. This works the same way with Scotch Four, but with four players.

Three Club

Each player can choose three clubs. These will be the only clubs allowed for the entire match. Some people specify that everyone has the same clubs: a driver, a putter, and a one iron. You then must hit the clubs in sequence-no matter the shot! This means that you may be putting with your driver or driving with your putter on any given hole.

Longest Drive

The golf pro will let you use a little stake that has a pen and pad of paper attached to it to record the name of the person who hit the shot. You place the stake off the fairway on one of the par five holes. The stake is moved to mark the location of the longest drive. The last name on the pad wins.

Closest to the pin: The pro will have a stake with a pad of paper and a tape measure that you place off the green on one of the par three holes. Each person who thinks their first shot is close can measure the shot and add his name to the pad. The person with the closest shot wins. You can also draw a circle in chalk around the pin on the same or different par three and have everyone that drives the ball into the circle win a prize.

Closest to the line: A chalk line is drawn in the middle of the fairway, lengthwise toward the green. The line starts some distance from the tee in the middle of the fairway toward the green. The length of the line depends on whether you want to reward a bad tee shot as well as a good one. A stake, with a pad attached, is placed on the spot of the closest drive to the line. The last name on the pad wins. pdf
