With less than a month to go before your big day, the planning stage gets much easier. All of the reservations have been made, dresses are at the final fitting stage, food and flowers have been ordered. The 4 weeks before your wedding are for finalizing details such as head count, seating plans and honeymoon arrangements.
Now is the time to pull our your wedding file and check off all that you have accomplished. The DJ is booked, your flowers are ordered, the caterer has a final menu and the officiant knows what time to arrive. Give yourself a pat on the back for how far you have come, and focus on the last personal touches for your wedding. And don't worry if one aspect of your wedding doesn't go exactly as planned, sometimes the alternative will turn out better than you expected!
2 Weeks Before the Wedding:
- If you are writing your own wedding vows, jot down poems, meaningful phrases and sentimental moments that you've shared with your fiance. Make sure he is working on his vows also!
- Call any guests who have not returned their response cards so you can provide an accurate guest count to the caterer.
- Pick up your marriage license and rings. Place them in a safe place and tell at least 2 other people where they are.
- Complete your reception seating plan. Anticipate overages by leaving a few empty spaces or making arrangements for another table to be set up if necessary.
1 Week To Go - The Final Countdown:
- Choose your wardrobe for the rehearsal dinner, pre-wedding errands, wedding ceremony, dance and afterwards.
- Pack for your honeymoon - include passports if you are leaving the country.
- Make a list of necessary items for your wedding day (such as wedding favors, wedding card box, cake serving set, toasting flutes) and assign a specific person or group of people to get these items to the reception venue.
- Coordinate with your maid of honor and personal attendant to decide what time they will arrive to help you get ready.
- Speak to your boss, co-workers and employees to confirm your workload is covered while you are on vacation.
- Pamper yourself with a manicure, pedicure, massage or facial.
The Day Before:
- Get plenty of sleep.
- Don't stress if things have changed from your original vision - 10 years from now you either won't remember the problems or you'll look back at them and grin.
- Relax!
Now that you have made it to the end of the planning stage, enjoy the fruits of your labors and thank everyone who helped you along the way!
