Wedding Inspiration: Pink and White Color Scheme

If you want to look and feel like a princess on your wedding day, there are few other colors as classic and innocent as pink and white.  Purity, sweetness, and love are the themes of the day, and pink and white capture these feelings perfectly.  They say that pink is the softer side of red, so it has its share of romance and passion to add to the big day as well.  Pink is a perennial member of the hottest wedding color lists, in one shade or another, and white...well, white will always be welcome at weddings.

Trends tell us that in 2011, hot pink will be a much-invited guest to weddings all over the country.  Also popular are blush pink, especially when paired with wine or mocha, and virtually any shade of pink paired with a warm gray.  White and a soft, blush pink is a very innocent, sweet combination, but you may want to consider accent shades to avoid looking like cotton candy and marshmallows.

Brightening your shade to a hot pink or fuchsia and adding accents of other bright pinks, lime, or tangerine accents will certainly make a statement.  If you love the classic pink and white, consider adding accents of ivory, silver, champagne, lavender, chocolate, sage, turquoise, and other shades of pink.  The best way to choose your accents, as well as your primary pink color, is to see what looks good together.  Experiment: you may think the idea of a blush pink, white, and pale yellow wedding will be too Easterish, but when you see the colors in front of you, you'll see that it will be perfect.

Incorporating accent colors into your wedding invitations, flowers, reception centerpieces, attire, and other aspects of the wedding will provide much-needed diversity and contrast for the very feminine color combination of pink and white.  This look is very much a “girly” look; it is romantic, soft, gentle, and warm.  Brides are choosing half up-dos with loose, tumbling curls for a look that is both sophisticated and tender.  Some add pink to their engagement rings, whether in the form of a pink diamond or accompanying pink sapphires.  A white dress can be accented with a pink sash or tiny pink detail work.

And guess what is the most popular color?  That's right, pink!  A winner from this year is undoubtedly the gorgeous pink Amalia Carrara, a “whimsical gown, awash in cotton-candy pink.”  It is absolutely delicious and exquisitely feminine.  It's also $5400.  You can always turn to a dress like the Morilee by Madeline Gardner.  Says Gardner, “The concept of our blush pink gown was to express the true femininity of a confident woman who believes that the color will add glow to her beauty on her wedding day.”  And that glow only costs $750.  You can find pink gowns in many bridal retail stores to accommodate your budget, and many designers are willing to dye white dresses to your preferred shade.

Pink and white is lovely; it is utterly classic and romantic.  To ensure that you give this classic color scheme a fresh twist, remember to sadd accents (such as white or pink wedding favors) to wow the guests with an incredible, unique pink color scheme.
