How To Incorporate Your Monogram into the Wedding

Monogrammed chocolate bar favorsWhen you get married, your new name is a big deal. You’re excited about having a new monogram. Why not spread the excitement by including your monogram throughout your wedding day? It’s easy and will really make an impact.

Start with the Save the Date cards and your invitations. Have them embossed with your new initials. Or have someone hand-letter them for you in a delicate script. This will set the tone for what’s to come at the wedding. Some wedding consultants might say you shouldn’t use your new monogram until the reception, but it’s entirely your choice. Many brides choose to use it from the very start.

You can include your monogram somewhere on your attire. You can have a pin made with both your and your new husband’s initials and wear it on a sash on your wedding gown. Or you can have a ribbon printed with your monogram and wrap it around the bouquet you will carry. If you can, have a grandmother or aunt, who is adept at sewing, monogram a part of your veil.

It’s a nice touch to have an elegant personalized aisle runner for your ceremony. They are relatively inexpensive and any banner or runner company will be able to do this for you.

Instead of plain white pew bows at the church, use wide ribbon printed with your monogram and drape it into personalized swags or bows.

If you will carry an envelope bag to collect gift cards as guests hand them to you, imprint your monogram on it.
You can have cocktail napkins and matchbooks printed with your initials. You can even get drink stirrers (swizzle sticks) imprinted like they used to do in the 1950s for a retro throwback.
Your monogram can be incorporated into a lighting design. You order a special metal plate called a “gobo” that your DJ or the hotel’s lighting specialist can help you work into the décor. Projecting it over the head table is a lovely touch. Test it out ahead of time to avoid disappointment at the last minute.
Your cake is the big place to show off your monogram. You can have it elegantly swirled on the top of your cake or made into “cake jewelry” as your cake topper. You can also have that ribbon you printed draped around the cake.
Guest wedding favors can include a mini version of your wedding cake complete with your monogram done in icing. You can also order custom cookies and lollipops with your monogram on them. Choose colors that match your décor.
One word of caution: Don’t go crazy and use every one of these ideas. A little can go a long way when it comes to monogramming. Use it in touches here and there so that it’s a welcome surprise.
Last of all, order monogrammed spa robes for you and your new husband to relax in after all the festivities are over.
